Award in Moving and Handling People Safely
Who is this for?
Employees in health and social care or any setting where assisting and moving people is part of the role – for example care home staff, domiciliary carers, support workers, hospital and hospice staff, therapy and rehab teams. It is ideal for organisations that need staff to move and handle people safely while protecting the person’s dignity, comfort and independence and meeting CQC and health and safety expectations.
Description
An accredited course focusing on the safe movement and handling of people, underpinned by general manual handling principles but recognising the extra risks and skills involved when supporting a person rather than a load. Learners explore personal safety, health and dignity issues, handling plans and risk assessments, and the correct use of people-handling equipment such as hoists, slings and slide sheets, before practising safe techniques in realistic scenarios.
