Anyone responsible for infants and children, including nursery and school staff, childminders, after-school/club staff, early years practitioners, nannies and foster carers, as well as parents and family members who want confidence dealing with childhood emergencies.
Description
A 2-day Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course covering emergencies and illnesses involving babies and children, with plenty of hands-on practice using child and infant manikins. The course is designed to meet the needs of early years and education settings and helps providers demonstrate compliance with EYFS and Ofsted paediatric first aid requirements. Learners gain practical skills and confidence to respond calmly and effectively if a child becomes unwell or injured, at work or at home.
What you'll learn
- Role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider.
- How to assess an emergency situation and keep infants, children and adults safe.
- Infant and child CPR and how to manage unresponsive casualties (recovery position).
- Dealing with choking, bleeding, shock and minor injuries.
- Managing common childhood conditions and serious emergencies (head injuries, fractures, asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, meningitis, diabetes, burns, poisoning).
Course Duration
2 days (typically 12 guided learning hours), scheduled to suit your shift patterns and operational needs.
Certification
Ofqual-regulated FAA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF), valid for 3 years and suitable as evidence for EYFS and Ofsted paediatric first aid requirements.
