Emergency Paediatric First Aid (incl. schools, nurseries) (Level 3)
Who is this for?
Staff who work with children but only need a shorter paediatric first aid qualification, such as school support staff, lunchtime supervisors, club leaders, childminders’ assistants, volunteers and parents. Ideal where there is at least one person on site holding the full 2-day Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Description
A 1-day Level 3 course focusing on the most common and serious paediatric emergencies. Learners gain practical skills to manage life-threatening situations involving babies and children until professional help arrives. This course is often used alongside the full Paediatric First Aid course to ensure broad staff coverage while still meeting EYFS/Ofsted expectations when combined with a full paediatric first aider.
What you'll learn
- Role and responsibilities of an emergency paediatric first aider.
- How to assess an incident and keep infants, children and adults safe.
- Infant and child CPR and managing unresponsive casualties (recovery position).
- Dealing with choking, serious bleeding, shock and seizures.
- Basic treatment of burns, scalds, minor wounds and common childhood injuries.
Course Duration
1 day (typically 6 guided learning hours), scheduled to suit your shift patterns and operational needs.
Certification
Ofqual-regulated FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF), valid for 3 years.
