Basic Life Support, AED & Anaphylaxis for Adults (Level 3)
Who is this for?
Anyone with a responsibility to respond to collapse or severe allergic reactions, including healthcare and dental staff, aesthetics/beauty practitioners, GP and clinic staff, sports and leisure staff, teachers and workplace first aiders.
Description
A focused course that combines adult basic life support, safe use of an AED and the recognition and management of anaphylaxis. Learners gain the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to start CPR, use a defibrillator and respond quickly and safely if someone has a severe allergic reaction, including use of an adrenaline auto-injector.
What you'll learn
- How to assess an unresponsive adult and place them in the recovery position.
- When and how to perform effective adult CPR.
- Safe use of an AED, including checks, pad placement and following prompts.
- How to recognise suspected anaphylaxis and common triggers.
- Immediate first aid for anaphylaxis, including practice with training adrenaline auto-injectors.
Course Duration
½ day (typically 3 guided learning hours), scheduled to suit your shift patterns and operational needs.
Certification
Ofqual-regulated FAA Level 3 Award in Adult Basic Life Support, Safe Use of an AED and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF), valid for 3 years.
