Basic Life Support & AED for Adults (Level 3)
Who is this for?
Anyone who may need to respond to a cardiac arrest or life-threatening collapse, including workplace staff, community responders, volunteers, security staff, leisure staff and members of the public who want practical lifesaving skills.
Description
A short, focused course that teaches the essential skills to recognise cardiac arrest, start effective CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on an adult casualty. Training is highly practical, using manikins and training defibrillators so learners leave confident to act quickly and safely in a real emergency.
What you'll learn
- How to assess an emergency situation and check responsiveness and breathing.
- Adult CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) – correct rate, depth and sequence.
- Safe use of an AED, including pad placement and following voice/visual prompts.
- Managing an unresponsive but breathing casualty (recovery position).
- How to deal with choking in adults.
Course Duration
½ day (typically 2.5 guided learning hours), scheduled to suit your shift patterns and operational needs.
Certification
Ofqual-regulated FAA Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF), valid for 3 years.
