Basic Life Support & AED for Adults & Children (Level 3)
Who is this for?
Staff and volunteers who may need to respond to cardiac emergencies involving both adults and children, including school and nursery staff, sports and leisure staff, community group leaders, health and social care workers and workplace first aiders.
Description
A short, highly practical course teaching how to recognise cardiac arrest and provide effective CPR and defibrillation for adults, children and infants. Learners practise on manikins of different ages and use training defibrillators so they can respond confidently in real-life situations at work, in education settings or in the community.
What you'll learn
- How to assess an emergency and check responsiveness and breathing in adults, children and infants.
- CPR for adults, children and infants – correct technique for each age group.
- Safe use of an AED on adults and children, including pad placement and safety checks.
- Managing unresponsive but breathing casualties (recovery position) for all age groups.
- How to recognise and deal with choking in adults, children and infants.
Course Duration
½ day (typically 3.5 guided learning hours), scheduled to suit your shift patterns and operational needs.
Certification
Ofqual-regulated FAA Level 3 Award in Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation for Adults, Children and Infants (RQF), valid for 3 years.
