Activity First Aid (Level 3)
Who is this for?
People who lead, coach or take part in sports, outdoor and leisure activities, including instructors, coaches, PE staff, club leaders, Duke of Edinburgh/expedition leaders, youth workers and active volunteers. Also suitable where employers need first aiders for activity-based or outdoor roles as part of their workplace first aid needs assessment.
Description
A comprehensive 2-day Level 3 course designed for anyone responsible for first aid in sport, leisure and outdoor activity settings. The qualification combines core first aid essentials with activity-specific scenarios such as injuries, environmental conditions and remote-area considerations. Learners develop the confidence to manage incidents during training sessions, matches, trips and events, including situations where professional medical help may be delayed.
What you'll learn
- Core first aid skills: scene assessment, primary survey, recovery position, CPR and use of an AED.
- Managing choking, shock and serious bleeding.
- Treatment of common activity injuries: sprains, strains, fractures, head and spinal injuries.
- Dealing with environmental and activity-related issues such as heat and cold, asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, seizures, drowning and electrical injuries.
- Practical incident management in sports and outdoor environments, including monitoring casualties and handover to emergency services.
Course Duration
2 days (typically 12 guided learning hours), scheduled to suit your shift patterns and operational needs.
Certification
Ofqual-regulated FAA Level 3 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF), valid for 3 years and recognised for first aid provision in many sports and activity environments.
