Fire Extinguisher Practical Training (IFE-accredited)
Who is this for?
All staff, new starters, fire wardens/marshals, and emergency response team members who may need to use an extinguisher in an emergency.
Description
A short, hands-on course focused on the safe use of portable fire extinguishers. Delegates receive a live demonstration and then practise using different extinguisher types on controlled fires, learning correct technique, safety distances, and when not to tackle a fire.
What you'll learn
- How to identify common extinguisher types (water, foam, CO₂, powder) and colour codes.
- Which extinguisher to use on different classes of fire.
- Step-by-step extinguisher operation and discharge technique.
- Personal safety, approach and retreat, and when to evacuate instead of fighting a fire.
- Safe practical use on live-fire training rigs under instructor supervision.
Course Duration
¼ day (typically 1–2 guided learning hours), scheduled to suit your shift patterns and operational needs.
Certification
IFE-accredited Fire Extinguisher Practical certificate, valid for 3 years.

Ideal group size 6–12 per session (maximum around 15) to ensure everyone gets meaningful hands-on practice.
