Who is this for?
Employees with responsibility for fire safety in the workplace, such as fire wardens/marshals, supervisors, team leaders and anyone tasked with helping manage fire risk and evacuations.
Description
A full-day course that develops core fire safety awareness into the knowledge and skills needed to take on a formal fire warden/marshal role. Learners explore workplace fire hazards, fire risk assessment principles, fire safety controls and the day-to-day and emergency responsibilities of nominated fire wardens. The practical extinguisher activity is optional.
What you'll learn
- How fires start, spread and create risk in the workplace, and how to identify and control common fire hazards.
- The basics of fire risk assessment, fire safety inspections, means of escape, alarms and emergency procedures, and the legal duties of employers and employees.
- The role and responsibilities of the fire warden/marshal on a day-to-day basis and during an emergency, including delivering fire safety briefings and supporting evacuations.
- Types of fire-fighting equipment and how portable extinguishers should be used safely (with practical extinguisher use, subject to site suitability and chosen package).
Course Duration
1 day (typically 6 guided learning hours), scheduled to suit your shift patterns and operational needs.
Certification
Ofqual-regulated FAA Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (RQF), valid for 3 years.
Delivery & Delegate Numbers
Classroom or on-site delivery at your premises with theory and practical extinguisher elements. Maximum 12 delegates per trainer.
