Who is this for?

Employees with responsibility for fire safety in the workplace, such as fire wardens/marshals, supervisors, team leaders and anyone tasked with helping manage fire risk and evacuations.

Description

A full-day course that develops core fire safety awareness into the knowledge and skills needed to take on a formal fire warden/marshal role. Learners explore workplace fire hazards, fire risk assessment principles, fire safety controls and the day-to-day and emergency responsibilities of nominated fire wardens. The practical extinguisher activity is optional.

What you'll learn

• How fires start, spread and create risk in the workplace, and how to identify and control common fire hazards.
• The basics of fire risk assessment, fire safety inspections, means of escape, alarms and emergency procedures, and the legal duties of employers and employees.
• The role and responsibilities of the fire warden/marshal on a day-to-day basis and during an emergency, including delivering fire safety briefings and supporting evacuations.
• Types of fire-fighting equipment and how portable extinguishers should be used safely (with practical extinguisher use, subject to site suitability and chosen package).
