Fire Door Inspection

Who is this for?

Building owners, landlords, facilities managers, health and safety officers, and responsible persons in multi-occupied residential, commercial, or public buildings with fire doors – such as offices, hotels, schools, hospitals, care homes, warehouses, and blocks of flats or HMOs. If your premises rely on fire doors for compartmentation and safe evacuation, regular inspections are essential to meet fire safety duties and avoid costly failures during audits or incidents.

Description

A specialist inspection of all fire doors and door sets across your premises, checking gaps, intumescent seals, self-closers, ironmongery, glazing, frames, and certification labels for compliance with fire resistance standards. Our third-party certified inspectors (FDIS, BM TRADA, or FPA accredited) identify defects that could compromise compartmentation, such as missing seals or faulty hinges, and assess how well doors maintain fire/smoke separation to protect escape routes.

What do you get?

Course Duration
Typically half a day to one full day on site for most premises, depending on the number of fire doors (e.g. 20–100 doors), access requirements, and building layout, plus short off-site time for report finalisation. Larger sites or high-rise buildings may take additional time.
Legal requirement / compliance
Fire door inspections support the general duty under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to maintain fire precautions, with specific guidance (e.g. LACoRS, BS 8214) recommending annual checks. Especially mandatory for higher-risk buildings under the Building Safety Act 2022. Non-compliance risks enforcement notices, fines, or prosecution.
